I feel like group 46 ushered in a new age of idol conservatism. I didn't notice the change until the later generations but I remember thinking it about Keyakizaka and Hinatazaka immediately. The format and presentation became more planned, idols more shy and everything more safe. In many ways it was a good thing for the overall show quality but at the same time it lost that edge of earlier group 48 shows and Idolling.
