Ok, real answer. 400k at your age (29) is solid but far from swimming in money. Think about all the things you CAN’T do with 400k.
Can’t buy a nice house in cash in a desirable area.
If you use it as a down payment it’s going to wipe out your savings and you’ll have an 8k a month mortgage payment (good luck w/ that)
Can’t retire, not even close.
Can’t go and buy a flashy car without being absolutely retarded because you just lost 20-30% of your net worth on a depreciating asset.
If you lose your job 400k buys you some time but it’s going to dwindle very quickly.
If you actually try to ball out with 400k, that shit is going to disappear in the blink of an eye.
So basically 400k isn’t a flex at all in the US. It’s more than most brokefags have and you have some basic financial security. That’s it. You’re a boring financially stable middle class guy .
Also keep in mind there are many successful people in their 30’s in cities who make multiple times your entire life savings in a single year.
