i'm earthbound's strongest soldier and even i will say that's a very fair way to feel especially at first, but it really is one of the few games where when people say "it gets better if you stick with it" they really mean it. inventory management gets WAY less scuffed the more characters you get, the story and settings get way cooler and more surreal, and the overall experience just ramps up imo. just gotta get used to that oldschool jrpg grinding but it's worth it i swear
