AFAIK Hopkins is still alive. You might be thinking of Shadman? He’s the only guy who comes up when you look for "webcomic guy who died from an overdose" but the only sources I can find for that are from 4chan itself and even then there’s still a bunch of anons saying he’s still alive just in jail so I dunno.

And YOU left out the part where he did a fuckton of mind altering drugs for some comic about doing a fuckton of mind altering drugs and destroyed his brain like a retard. IIRC the drug comic was a backer reward too. I also remember an incident where another webcomic creator (don’t remember who it was unfortunately) jokingly said that he was faking depression for money and Campbell got SUPER pissy at that and made a long ass essay sarcastically congratulating the guy and insisting he was a woman for some reason?
