"Hurr durr, the working class votes against their own interests!" is literally an NPC phrase that lefties parrot without giving it a second of cognitive thought. It's obvious to anyone capable of a child's level of comprehension that bringing in millions of third world immigrants is terribly harmful to the working class. It lowers wages, increases unemployment and simultaneously causes a sharp spike in housing costs.
Lefties can't allow themselves to understand this basic reality, their self image depends on it. They imagine that they're champions of the poor and downtrodden, but any opposition to immigration would be "racist" so when confronted with facts their brains literally shut down.
