Net zero would reduce climate change. Drought, famine, storms, wildfires. They could be reduced if we reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
Look at pic related. Much of the world will suffer from climate change, and people in those areas might try to travel to Europe, which will be cooler. Even if you propose "let's just invest in a capable border force which will keep people out", that costs money. Maybe it's better to just invest directly in renewable sources of energy (and perhaps nuclear too because it doesn't produce greenhouse gases) which will reduce climate change, and also give the UK energy independence.
