The other thing I remember about NYC is how many different people there are. It's a crazy place because you'd see someone who looked like they just arrived from a mountain village in Nepal walking down the sidewalk next to a girl who looks like a model from the cover of a magazine. Within minutes of leaving Grand Central Station after arriving from the airport I was stopped by someone needing directions and asking me if I spoke Occitan (I think?). At least that's what I thought they were saying. I was like, uhh, no sorry, good luck!
