Nope. You can actually see the effect of grace with the player not being able to attack in certain areas or do certain actions. Why do you think Confessors, who have no grace, can instead attack even in no aggression zones and make for perfect assassins? Why do you think the Two Fingers state that all in the Lands Between will have to haunt and attack on sight the Tarnished. Why do you think you can use Irises that mimic grace in the DLC and that are stated to control people?

That's the issue of those who don't like SOTE, they didn't understand the base game in the first place.
