That's very interesting. I'm especially intrigued about that name somehow having ended up in the PL dub (if true).
Sort of related: Do you happen to know if there were any scrapped names for Norman in the leaks? For whatever reason, the German dub had him called "Andre" in his first episode before correcting itself later.

I found the episode with Joseph in it. Unless there's 2 Polish dubs, Joseph is addressed as either "(pan) prezes" or "sir". Kennedy calls him "pan prezes Devon Corporation" once when telling Ash about him, if my ears picked up all the letters correctly. No Stanwick. I'll look for Steven's episode next.

What compels localizers to do unnecessary shit like this

Perhaps it was a "last minute" change from the game localizers, which left 4Kids with 2 scripts after revising dialogs? Or something like that. I'd love to know where that FD poster and Bulbapedo editor got that name from, if not from a leaked 4kids script booklet that used it or something. If Steven ends up actually being "Steven Stanwick" in the PL dub then perhaps Poland got that presumed early version. Regardless, what an odd case.
