Like you I'm also wondering if it will ever leave development Hell. The one constant though, from the very beginning was dj2 and that Dmitri guy. Back when Legendary was involved and they were thinking of including Sean Mendes (ugh) dj2 was the one with the rights to adapt it. So he's been there from the start.
That dude said it was the same experience with Sonic. Took him 10 years and multiple shifting teams for it to finally be released. LiS will likely have taken a similar extended journey rotating through potential producers and creatives. But whether its actually worth the wait remains to be seen if it sees the light of day.
