This is the common "Misaki bad" interpretation. Even if she's useless, wanting a girl in your life is normal male desire and wrangling her gives a man's life meaning and content.
Throughout most of the anime, Sato dismissively humors Misaki's antics but stays at an arm's length. At the end of the anime, the dynamic has changed and he has started coaching her for high school, ending at a slightly hopeful note (but no guarantees). Also, at the end, he's presented with yet another Misaki's delusional contract, and he's not shooting it down despite of how stupid he clearly thinks it is, portraying acceptance of her character (not acceptance of the contract). This is all in line with my post.
