It's abundantly clear FF IX Remake ran into the exact same situation as FF VII Remake, initially being outsourced (at the time of the nVidia leak) and then development scrapped and restarted in-house because the quality was too low.

I do wonder if they're going to announce it any time soon. The moment seems right of course, there's the 25th anniversary, there's the FF XIV expansion full of memberberries. But if they completely restarted development after a dev hell they just might not be done for years yet.
