Them toning him down was such a long needed change. The powercreep in cape comics is real and really makes them unrelatable. Nobody want to read or watch some edgy god that can asspull every effect imaginable.

I imagine the reason why Batman is such an ever-green character is that him having no magic powers at least partially limits the writers from getting lazy with him. He can't just start vibrating at ultra-speeds to walk through walls or fly through the sun faster than light to turn back time and reverse a plot point.
