Superman 2025 was mid at best, if I have to be honest. I like that they departed from the super serious and dark tones from the Snyder films, but the movie felt too cartoony. Lex Luthor and that one made-up foreign dictator guy felt like cartoon villains. The dog was absolutely made for kids and ruined every scene he was in, just like Jar Jar Binks in The Phantom Menace. I also don't like how they're obviously baiting and setting up an extended cinematic universe instead of keeping the movie self-contained and the soundtrack outside of the remakes of the John Williams theme sucked.

I don't really care that Savage Dragon or whoever Image was shilling at the time didn't show up. I'm honestly Brit doesn't get pushed as much as he does in the comic. But they did cut out important parts for Rudy that leads in shit that's coming later for example, and it's over in less than one episode. The Marks also felt a lot less impactful against main Mark, and Conquest showing up when Mark was pretty much running on fumes was one of the bigger Oh Shit moments in the series and they also fumbled that. The Conquest fight itself was what got the most focus and they did do that one well at least.

I liked the movie but I'm also a big fan of Gunn.
I appreciate us not having to go through yet another origin story and just starting us off with these characters established, no one needs to see the backstory for the 10th time, we know who they are or we can gather it with context clues.
