Samaritans are the longest and oldest proven residents of the region. They avoided being fucked over and ensslaved by the Assyrians, Babylonians, and romans and thus never suffered from a diaspora. They didnt live for thousands of years in other parts of the world the way modern jews did. While persecuted by Byzantine and early Islamic rulers, they really did move far from their ancient homeland and didn't mix with other races or settlers.
