>people will do all sorts of shit for cosmetics
devs have forgotten this but it's true
literally just go to xivmodarchive and look at some of the quality of life mods, like the ones that let you wear the varsity flat cap's glasses without the fucking cap (pic related it's the glasses). for some reason we never actually got those glasses as a "the faces we wear" type of thing, so modders long ago made a solution to that and it's still getting used to this day. if they just looked at what people are downloading, they'd know this is a desired item. so now take that item, put it in game, and then put it in one of your "explorer currency" shops and BAM, suddenly people are exploring in old dungeons again. or, hell, look at how people killed themselves opening chests nonstop for that new twirl emote. imagine if we got an actual dance emote that worked with 2 people by standing on top of each other and pressing the emote input at the same time. it's janky but this is how people have been doing it in the modding communities for years. square could implement something similar, call it a 2 person mod, the first of its kind. and then just toss it in the explorer shop. people would drag their dick through glass for something like that.
except we can't even really have that, because the dungeons have all been streamlined ages ago for trusts. there are no more nooks and crannies. it's just straight lines, all the way down. linear paths, linear jobs, linear relics, linear expansions, no alarms, no surprises.
