I don't have anything against these games but I know for a fact if they released in ~2006 or so they would be niche hidden gems no one really talks about that much, like the games that inspired it

Everything about their success relates to releasing at the PERFECT moment to capitalize on masses of zoomers who were growing up with smartphones and YouTube ecelebs and were looking for a quirky ironic thing to hype, meme, and get obsessed with, like how AC New Horizons only got so huge due to releasing during the pandemic

The fact Deltarune isn't nearly as successful and popular despite being a Switch 2 launch title confirms my theory
