Yeah pacifism/genocide is not Deltarune's dichotomy. At no point (so far) does the game shame you for taking this route. In fact, multiple characters give you their philosophy on what it means to play and do wrong things in a game, namely Ramb and Eram. The game actively tells you it's okay to explore even these dark paths.
Some darkners are disappointed and sad if you fail to recruit every enemy, and your town will have less content as a result, but you will also get stronger and now we know that this time, there is a point to getting stronger: we're facing the end of the world.
