that would be true but all bar stock is heat treated and every barrel process involves heat treating it.

there's a paper on work hardening and its relation to stress of the metal it's from I'm reading. Main take way is that it depends on the amount of work hardening done and CHF might not be as intensive a process as we might think (in terms of work hardening the metal)
you're preaching to the choir. I was told again and again about tempering metal and proper heat treatment for gun parts/tool steel/etc etc in gunsmif skool. I love chfcl. I don't care if I end up being wrong but I do like to learn

neat. Thanks for the pics. Barrel nut length is around the same. I think PSA uses some SS for their nuts which is somehow a step up from aluminum which is what I hear they originally used back in the day when they were just straight up BCA
