smash as a series has never been good. fun?sure. but the games in terms of quality have always been kusoge.
Ultimate specifically is this weird mess that trips over whether it wants to be a shallow key jangler like its predecessors or something with competitive merit but doesn't do either particularly right as their attempts to appeal to both sides just muddies shit and it ends up being this yucky mess with no merit to it outside of its roster.
