Not masturbating is good but the nofap community does itself a massive disservice by trying to mystify it and claim almost esoteric results. People who are inclined to believe in effects of that kind will get distraught after they hit some magical number and realize that they were lied to. They will then distrust nofap entirely and in the worst case both stray spiritually and in terms of self discipline and will adopt some philosophy/religion that both claims spiritual superiority and will let them indulge in their vices.
