You have one good point about some choices being artistic deliberated, but everything else falls apart when you realize that corpo greed was a thing back in the day, too. Those people were screamed, chastised and called fools for failing to deliver on very thin budgets and then called visionaries when the game miraculous did well. I understand the rosy retrospection because I'm still deeply under the spell of some of those games, but don't be misguided by it.
