Krauser is a standin for Vergil from Stylish BIO4, but he may also be a standin for either an early iteration of Spencer or an early iteration of Wesker.
Saddler/Salazar are absolutely earlier versions of Spencer though.

As another thing, the prologue section does make mention of Leon becoming aware of Sherry's capture by another organization, which is in reference to Wesker's Report, where his group took Sherry after RE2.
This prologue section is freely available- it's called "Diary of a Madman" if I recall.

4th Survivor was kind of a KH secret boss moment in that context, setting up the next title.
It wasn't too heavily planned though, it was more of a distinct idea that was kind of aimless which is why it was so easy to scrap. Its plot would've also, presumably, tied into the events of the Ada audio drama for BIO2.
In the audio drama, "The Female Spy Ada Lives!", Ada intercepts the exchange point where HUNK was meant to dropoff the G-Virus and tries to steal it (though if I recall, it's ultimately lost once again for both sides). This would then lead into BIO3 where HUNK needs to attain another sample of the virus.

The state of RE at the time of 2's completion was an interesting one, since it was completely unrecognizable. Here's a brief rundown:
>Ada was "on her way to return" to Leon (post-Drama)
>Leon was about to deployed on an Anti-Umbrella mission that would end with his replacement (Gaiden- perhaps Ada would save the real Leon?)
>Jill and Chris would be leading an anti-Umbrella operation against the Ashford Family (Early CV, before Kamiya changed Claire's final lines Jill would've been the lead)
>Sherry was on the run from Umbrella after getting separated from Claire and Leon, but escapes with new character "Meg" to Canada

It's entertaining for the first few days, and I enjoyed attaining SS in all areas. When you get to the end, it feels a little hollow, and I wish they had expanded the cast. It's a pretty good time so far. Pretty rough start, but gets better as you progress into the Castle.
I just made it to the Beneviento house.

The first one isn't part of the same series as the other remakes.
The 2-4 remakes are all stylized as the BIOHAZARD RE: series, whereas the 2002 game is just "biohazard". That RE: stylization is also in the west, though harder to spot (the R and E are coloured red in the logos, unlike the main games).
I imagine if Capcom were to do more remakes, 1 is just a given if they're doing 5, but I also think those are the only other games they'll remake.
Capcom probably likes the convenience of every title just being numbered, which is why they've skipped over CV, merged elements of Survivor into the remakes, stuff like that.
