I've visited Japan couple months ago (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka), and Kyoto was pretty much a village holiday episode. There was next to no one on the streets, shit felt like Persona 4 overall. But I'm autistically against tourist traps, so I wasn't really visiting all of those popular places, maybe that was my salvation.
