>Any time I get a new gun, I strip it down, clean it, and lube it up before I take it to the range for the first time. In part to inspect and familiarize myself with it
I actually do the opposite. I like to know how well the gun can run dry and ignored. I like to see 1k rounds without lube or even a field strip without malfunctions, but only my FN 509c, PDP, Berretta APX, and TX22 have managed it. If I see reliability issues in the first 100-150 rounds out of the box the first thing I do is clean and obviously lube it, and that's fixed it with everything except my JXP 10 which I think needs to be sent back to Hi point if I ever give a shit about it enough to fix it.
Not surprised to hear the DW is better, the ones I've handled have been VERY nice and justify the price. Sometimes you gotta spend good money to get good shit ya know?
