added to the list of guns to hold in person, thanks. i realize concealed carry / presenting and shooting a gun quickly yet controlled is a blind spot in terms of my gun skills. it actually opens up another dimension coming to /hg/ mainly as a rifleman. i got my loicence to practice all aspects of shooting. this video has been helpful so far:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3qRf52Xedo

>>63970856
the closest thing i own to a concealable weapon is a S&W 10-6 lol. but i do find it to be a comfy gun and pleasant to shoot with .38spl. OWB / open carry is not an option for me

Even better, I just leave a lamp on in the living room all the time. It's always been enough to sufficiently illuminate the kitchen and the hallway to the bedrooms at night. Nobody stubs their toes, everyone can see enough to get a glass of water at night, and I can see enough without additional light to identify who's who. I'll spend less than a TLR 1 in lightbulbs over my entire lifetime doing this, and leaving a light on also deters burglars.

The X300s go for about 220 new on sale. Dont pay more

The X300 is like the gold standard of WMLs, thereโ€™s some better ones like PH350 or whatever the fuck but the TLR1-HL is perfectly fine. The 7-X HL is a really big compact light that I think can fit on G19 rails

Love it. Got good grouping today. Should have taken pics.
What I do NOT love is the amount of loctite that someone put on these fucking grip screws. Now after a detail strip, one of my grip bushings is fucked and I'm not sure I should put it all back together again.
Also I bought the shoe a week ago and already have it. I'm just not sure this current shoe will come off the bow.

This was always a slow thread, comprised of people with lives, so if you have 3 dudes who shitpost here literally 10 hours a day, they can do a lot of damage. It's been like this for a year and mods are clearly going to do nothing about it, so the thread is dead. Why bother posting when 50% of the thread is shitposters spamming?

>>63971822
On the front or the rear? Tbh while you're on Atlas' site just get spare bushing screws, bushing, grip screws and grip screw nuts, maybe 2 sets for the front stuff. On the front if you don't use a lot of loctite those fuckers will be gone in a few weeks if you don't remember to tighten them down. The rear ones should be mostly good since you can torque down more. For all 4 of those screws I'd recommend vibratite either way.

I haven't tried to remove them but honestly I would just do a full swap. Then if you need to RMA you can just swap the OEM part back in.

Never said there was. But the owners do this negative advertising thing, where they turn the brand to shit by acting like retarded monkey faggots. You see this behaviour in other places, where brandniggers always act toxic. Not only is this retta troon brandwarring, but xe is also posting actual retard shit. No sane person is proud of having 20+ of a similar gun. No sane person would ask this troon for advice, because someone this autistic is never as smart as they think. Xe shows its true colors by posting porn and then reporting people trying to talk about revolvers, because we all know this gen should talk about xer preferred weapon and nothing else. Xe posts an ugly bitch that has never and will never suck his tiny cock. Xe makes fun of people xe considers "poor", where " poor" is owning only a few handguns. Not that xer retta collection is worth THAT much. There are antique guns worth far more than that troon's entire collection. Not only that, but you really gotta ask what that thing is preparing for by having that many weapons. It can't be good. I mean, I know gangsters with switched out Glocks run the streets now, but you have to wonder what sick things happen in that troon's head. From conversations I've had, it wants to be the main girl character from Black Lagoon.

Also, this part is not true at all. You're thinking of Twink, I just think the Sam story is kinda funny, what with the talking dog posessing the Jew. Plus i really do have almost the same gun that Sam had, and by unironic coincidence. I didn't go look for it, and I didn't know about it. It was simply the only available selection that wasn't trash. See, unlike many kommando incels who would murder instantly if they had a "self defense" claim, I have no desire to take human life. I troll online for the sake of trolling. The world has enough kommando serial killers already, I think I'll just relax and enjoy my weed. You have no idea about anything, and I live rent free for years. Here is why this place is a shithole:

>the word 'general'
This implies a common forum accessible to everyone

>gatekeeping
It's not enough for certain incels to have a gun. They need to feel superior to others. Also, the biggest retards take over the general by posting the most. "Post guns" exacerbates this by forcing the debate to prioritize the same dozen of literal retards (like me) who are stupid enough to post their entire arsenal for glowniggers to see, document, and keep track of. As a result, the "general" becomes a heavily moderated circlejerk of the same anons who heavily regulate what type of discussion is allowed. These anons come from the same circles as the jannies, because there are people far more obsessed with this shithole than I am. So, the circlejerkers get the shadowban ability. Combine that with the standard autism of a kommando, and the general is probably the worst on the board. Yes, this happens in every general and yes, so called generals are gay trash and falsely named. If this was an actual general, someone would help me figure out how to repair my bulldog. But because I aggroed the dozen niggers who own the joint, there is no discussion to be had. No fresh blood, no passing through. Just a spotlight on the same couple of retards, locked in an eternal battle.

See, if you could just admit to being wrong about this one thing, I would settle the beef with you. All the war scholars disagree with you about weapon aesthetics. Not only that, but making a name for yourself through your death is Columbine mass shooter and Christchurch mass shooter mentality. You watch way too much tranime, and it's evident. Your need to stand out shows the emptiness within. Nothing truly distinguishes you as a person.

>but that's not true, I'm very unique and special and talented
Dressing up your weapon like an 8 year old drag queen shows the exact opposite, even if you were somehow otherwise skilled. You project weakness by pursuing beauty. These aren't my words, these words are ancient. That's why k doesn't know them: ktards can't fucking read. We are in an age where people are unironically becoming illiterate. Monke brain know shiny gun better. How can you double down on your weak argument of aesthetics? It's like saying that a car has to be pretty-- a vain and false thing to say. Especially for you, anon. I'd expect more from someone supposedly into Asian culture. You haven't read the fundamentals of bugmen literature, all you're after is hairy disgusting yellow women with no tits or ass. That was from over a year ago when I had an issue with pinning the trigger if I grip the gun too hard so I was holding it rather loosely. Personally I donโ€™t think keeping the muzzle flat the entire recoil cycle is the important thing, the important thing is if the muzzle is back on target by the time the gun is done cycling.

Ported guns arenโ€™t magic

Like mechanical weaknesses? Nothing I know of. O-rings and recoil springs are consumables, but not many people shoot enough rounds to wear them out. They didn't come with thread protectors for many years so don't be surprised if one is missing that. Like Beretta's Bruniton, the old maritime finish can chip as it's enamel over parkerizing but that doesn't necessarily indicate abuse.

>new?

I finally went to the range to try out various pistols. Forgot my baking scale, oh well. Here's a summary of my notes

>Gen4 G19
Trigger not as bad as people on the internet lead my to believe. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't GOOD though. Recoil was fine, not very flippy. Didn't like the stock sights. Didn't like the slide lock (this is a common trend, might just be a skill issue). Very good grip angle. Liked how high up I could get on the pistol and still be comfy with the backstrap. Hooking nondominant finger over trigger guard felt good. NPC goon vibes.

>P30SK & P30S
Better trigger than the G19. More flippy. Paddle mag release needs training around. Wasn't sure whether to adjust my grip and use my dominant thumb, or my dominant index finger, or keep my grip and use my non-dominant thumb. Pinky hangs off the grip with flush-fit magazines, felt good with an extended magazine. DA trigger heavy but consistent. No wall prior to break. Liked the finger grooves in the grip. The left-side safety dug into my dominant thumb's knuckle while firing. The P30S was less flippy and had a longer grip, but otherwise identical (as expected). Underwhelming desu, my guntuber binging lead me to believe these would be my favorite and they simply weren't.

>FN High Power
Notably light trigger. Liked it. Felt heavier than the G19 or P30SK. Better safety than the P30S/P30SK. Dogshit sights. Didn't like the stippling on the stock side panels, or the grip angle. Didn't like the slide lock. Not much recoil. The sights and the grip really killed it for me. Admittedly it was A Vibe. I'd collect one, but I wouldn't carry one.

>Apollo 11
Turns out people talk about 1911 triggers for a reason. Felt very good in the hand. Shot it very well. Loved the safeties on it. The top of the backstrap dug into the webbing between my thumb and index finger when firing, which was annoying. Slapping the mag home didn't automatically drop the slide, which was interesting. Didn't like the slide lock, either engaging or disengaging it. Real fuckin' neato. Whether the neato/$ is worth it may be a different story, idk, it felt expensive in my hand. I'd hate to see it in an evidence bag.

>PDP Compact
Another difficult slide lock. Best ergos yet- Really loved the way it felt in my hand, the best of all the pistols I shot. Gave me the second best groups of the day, and the best 9mm group by far. Trigger had a solid wall with a distinct break. Initial takeup is a little long but riding the reset felt good. A little hard to rack. Slapping the magazine home also didn't drop the slide on this one. Felt like an IYKYK pistol. I liked it. I'd probably color fill the Walther logo in white if I got one.

>M&P Carry Comp
Very aggressive stippling on the grip to the point it was uncomfortable to shoot. No apparent wall on the trigger pull. Slide lock issues again. Fairly linear recoil. Short reset. Easy to rack. Feels a little try hard. Didn't like the sights. Didn't like it overall, really.

>Canik MC9LS
Worst trigger of the day and it's not close. Felt like squeezing a dish sponge, and it went on forever. More aggressive stippling. Didn't like this slide lock either. Turkroach/10.

>Cosaint COS21
A little chunky. Particularly in the slide, which brought the center of gravity noticeably further away from my grip. Felt better in my hand than the Apollo 11. The trigger and safety are comparable though. Backstrap felt better. Only gun that malfunctioned on me all day- one failure to feed. Very thin front sight post. The malfunction soured me on it, I was really liking it up to that point.

>Mk23
The pistol is large, but smaller than I expected. I could reach almost all of the controls without adjusting my grip, except for the slide release. Using the decocker was uncomfortable. The DA pull made me feel like I need to buy a grip strength trainer. SA pull was pretty good. Shooting this gun made me giddy. I didn't group particularly well with it, but I put an extra magazine through it just because it was so much fun. Comparing the slide length to my torso, I think I could CC one with a shoulder holster. It would be like dailying a Peterbilt, but what a delightful extravagance.

>Walther PPQ
Lighter thank the Mk23 (lol). Less giggle factor. Didn't like the ergos as much as the PDP, but admittedly they were still pretty good. There was a wall to the trigger, but it was pretty light. Overall it just didn't make much of an impression on me. I expected it to be optics ready and it wasn't.

>Gen4 Glock21
This gave me my tightest group of the day. I much preferred this to the G19, for some reason. The grip angle and how high I can get on the gun were really nice. I tried some reaction drills and 3/6 of my double tap pairs were touching (admittedly it was only @5yds). The RSO let me fingerfuck his gen5 G41 with an aftermarket trigger, hogue grip, and truglo sights and that was even better. Probably the pistol I enjoyed shooting the most. Except for the sights. And the stock trigger. And the stock grip texture. Feels like the Honda Civic + $5k in simple mods of pistols.

So that's where I'm at. I'm torn between the PDP Compact and ricing out a .45 Glock. Vaguely disappointed by the HKs. They were fine, to be clear, but only fine. If I liked them more I'd be willing to overlook the safety digging into my thumb. The Mk23 is an exception, but I'd need to actually develop a wildcat based on .460 Rowland that's been kicking around the back of my head to justify carrying it. Thanks for reading my blogpost.

this isn't a feature on 99% of guns, it's a failure. The mag should not interfere with the slide lock unless unloaded. The interference could cause a miss fed or not catch the top round and drop the slide on an empty chamber

buy another gun so you have two with no light, or buy a light so you have a gun with a light. You can get a good light for $100 or less you prolly missed all the sales. Then buy some ammo with the rest and practice using your new light.

Loved the blogpost anon, if it changes your mind the PDP is much cheaper than a g21 now days. $402 for the 5", or $492 for the 4" compact where as the cheapest glock 21 is $530 online right now. If you plan on ricing the glock 21 out that price difference only gets wider.

Either way I'm glad you actually went out and tried guns before you bought something. I also find HKs rather snappy which is something people don't mention but love to mention on the PDP.

Never seen this tactic actually utilised in the field after watching hundreds of pistol action videos but you're probably right about the peripheral illumination. Also, you can treat the light beam like a point of aim [SAS did this with WML's on their MP5's]

LAPD uses the FN 509, but some LEO just refuse to use anything but what they want to use regardless of practicality. The police in the town I just finished my contract in are issued glock 17s, but one guy had a 45acp gen 1 M&P covered in hockey tape like tripple layer, looked terrible. I usually have like 3-5 min of small talk with them when they bring me patients so I asked about it and he said he was allowed to supply his own and didn't want to use anything he "wasn't used to".

Your average gun owners are weird about sticking to what worked for them before. Cops are even weirder.

Basic presentation drill. Post a target on the wall and just practice bringing the gun up and finding the dot. Watch Ben stoeger videos and understand that youโ€™re supposed to be 100% target focused, you are looking at the target, not the gun, not the sights, not even the red dot, but at the place you want your bullets to go.

Dry fire drills, but practicing presentation is the most important thing to do when switching to a dot

This is your daily Ben Stoeger update.
>Ben has shot thousands of rounds through the M&P 2.0 already
>he prefers the Glock grip because the M&P grip doesn't let him get enough grip with his support hand but he feels he can overcome this with skill
>magazine basepads are horrible, he needs aftermarket base pads
>unmodified, he prefers the PDP, but he feels once he modifies it with grip tape, Apex trigger, new basepads, he will like if MORE than the PDP and possibly as much as a G47
>now the bad news, he thinks the M&P is significantly less mechanically accurate than other guns. S&W barrels suck balls.

They adopted the 509 in 2021, looks like first shipments arrived in 2022. The fact that some of them still use 1911s illustrates my point that unless you force them to update their shit some cops will just stick with strictly worse stuff because it worked ok before so why get something better.

>>63977853
I understand that my taste in camo isn't everyones, but I need to stress this cop was in Minnesota. It was literal hockeytape that had been wrapped around the pistol an ungodly ammount of times unevenly. I like the aethetics of talon tape and stuff like that but this was awful and could not have been comfortable to shoot with

>>63978367
First time im hearing that about S&W barrels. Kinda funny that glock barrels are supposedly incredibly mechanically accurate but there are 100 aftermarket options where other guns have less accurate barrels and little to no aftermarket options. Pic rel, arsenal is the sig of the AK world. Used to be amazing, now just overpriced and bad.

S&W QC is not good. They probably just don't try very hard for anything that isn't Performance Center. I've heard of people buying S&Ws and their gun has no rifling.
I can believe their guns are less accurate because their barrels don't have any special qualities and their guns have loose tolerances.

Gen 5 .40 Glocks have a slightly wider slide. You can see it in that image, it's more apparent at the rear due to the contouring on the front of the Gen 5. Some Gen 5 .40 Glocks can't be used in 9mm Glock holsters because of it.

The performance center back in the day used to churn out some of the best fit/finished guns you could find in the US that weren't 1911's. Nowadays I thinks it's just a label to sell guns with more "custom" parts and nice features (with maybe a second QC inspection), although I imagine there's a small handful of boomers that still do the 3rd gen action jobs. The real experts of the center definitely all moved on and started their own businesses though.

LTT trigger bar and 13-14 pound hammer spring ~90 dollars. You can get the full trigger job in the bag but just these two components do the most work. The trigger bar is what gives it a short reset and it also optimizes the DA pull a little. The hammer spring brings the DA pull weight down significantly but still pops primers. Around 12 pounds is where it has trouble so stick with 13, 14 if youโ€™re worried. 16 if you want absolutely no chance and want the heavier DA pull.

LTT thin grips. lok thin grips, VZ thin grips. Iโ€™m quite partial to Wilson Combat grips since I like medallions but LTT grips are better contoured and more aggressively textured. So are Lok thin grips.

With the design of the slide, there isn't enough material for a direct mount. The firing pin block has a plunger that moves up and out of the slide when fired, that has to be redesigned or modified to mount the optic plates low - the Beretta OEM cut does nothing to it so they have to mount the slide 1/8 or 1/4 higher than they have to.

LTT uses a mounting plate with C&H Precision T nuts so the threads for the optic go up and into the optic so the plate can be super thin and just hold the Tnuts in little slots. Downside to those is that they use 4-40 screws.

>>63979082
For a 92FS optic cut, there's nothing LTT does to the front sight so you won't get BUIS which is half the point of their cut. There are pin on sights for the 92FS/M9 which make them super tall to use adjustable rears that might be the right height for a LTT cut but I haven't seen anyone do that. The EPS plate and how low the EPS is you might be able to get away with the stock iron height, it won't shoot POI/POA but it'll be for back up use only.

where you say this. You don't have any flashlights, if your gun was railless it wouldn't matter at all. Someone asked you what WMLs to buy and you had no answer, while you reposted a faulty image exaggerating the differences between the Ultra and Turbo X300s.

Your "front sight options" is contradictory to the other posts you make where "all shooting within 15m should be instinctual". So you don't need fancy sights to do that. The 92FS sights are perfectly fine for combat/silhouette shooting where you are mostly target or front sight focused.

You are bringing shit tier /arg/ tier discussions to /hg/. It is no wonder why none of the regulars like you

Think Iโ€™m over 1000 dollars in parts not even counting the frame. If I were do this again, maybe starting from a Prodigy or Apollo frame that costs 1000 dollars would be better. The entire frame and trigger group would already be preassembled, all I would need is a new slide, ejector, and barrel to convert to .45

Even cheaper if I got a 600 dollar Tisas 2011

I have a cheeky para ramped frame Iโ€™m waiting for and I thinking of buying a stainless JEM frame (unramped for .45). The cheely is going to be the first one for practice and any lessons learned I hope to apply to the JEM frame.

The trigger choice is because I really wanted this gun. Itโ€™s from Fusion Firearms. I lost an auction for one like a month ago and itโ€™s all I can think about, I tapped out at 2300. Itโ€™s good I didnโ€™t buy it since it was a 1 of 250 FBI contract gun - too rare to shoot as itโ€™s the first example of a Duty oriented double stack 1911. The contract fell through since the first 72 of the 250 delivered guns werenโ€™t reliable due to being Para double stacks. It might be better now with MecGar magazines but itโ€™s again still too rare to carry. I want a double stack .45 2011 for carry.

I might go flat red dirt trigger if I donโ€™t like it when itโ€™s fully assembled. It does have to slop vertically in the MJD grip I have.

I realized the other day that Les Baer sells slides, theyโ€™re like 400-600 dollars, a stripped double serrated no sight cuts one is 415 bucks which is the same as a comparatively optioned Caspian slide but with sights.

Les Baer serrations arenโ€™t like anyone elseโ€™s, theyโ€™re done with a checkering file and are triangles instead of saw teeth

Cheap Tisas get.
$419. About $500 total after tax, shipping, and transfer fee. I haven't taken it to the range yet so I can't form too much of an opinion until I get a few hundred rounds through it, but so far I'm pleased with what Tisas seems to offer at the price point.

Assuming the $300 M1911A1 repros they offer are basically the same, I think that's a pretty good value assuming it works well. The extra $120 in my case got me an extra barrel (9mm/38 Super) and nickel plating.

I saw that the other day, very interesting piece. I wonder how much of the parts fitting besides slide to frame was done by Les baer? There's a couple people who build custom on old para ordnance frames and I'm looking to get one this year. I do wonder if they can be as good (reliability wise) as a custom 2011 when worked on by a gunsmith who specializes with them.

Para used to sell frames as kits, that is what was delivered to Les Baer to make the guns. The guy at the head of the project left the company for some reason (probably he got them into shitty contract that they had no way of actually delivering on).

The magazines were the biggest issue with the para ordnance pattern, people say you have to tune them to the gun and all that shit, MecGar makes good mags so I wonder if they'll make it run better.

Beautiful pistol anon. I love the look of that nickle plating. I was impressed with mine for the price but had to get help from some /hg/ anons on diagnosing and tuning the extractor. It had been reliable but flung brass directly into my face almost every single shot. Actually chipped my old glasses with 45acp brass. Hoping for a range report soon, let us know how it runs. >Is there anything I should focus on when trying to improve at shooting? (grip, stance, ect ect).
This is great primer on shooting. I don't really use Paul's stance and tell people not to but you should find what works for you. I find Isoceles to be much much more intuitive, I like one leg in front of the other with an isoceles arms. Imagine using a post hole digger, that is what your arms are doing. Or if you're a zoomer then imagine driving a stake into a vampire's heart with two hands.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLU3K98y0SVS8gSEuS5it9oG6MFxgGsZgL

You need to understand grip and stance shouldn't be about keeping the muzzle flat for your youtube short or instagram video "HOW TO DELETE RECOIL, REAL LIFE CHEAT CODE DO THIS". It's great that you're new so you can take Ben Stoegers teachings directly without having to unlearn something else. Grips should be simple and repeatable, no finger pressure shit, no cross pressure with your thumbs, just hold the gun. Recoil "control" is a misleading term, the gun is going to recoil no matter what, your technique should be about getting the gun back onto target in a repeatable consistent fashion.

Great videos on building your grip technique
https://youtu.be/kNnlAJkHbdQ
https://youtu.be/QHsFa1iDVOw
https://youtu.be/pXahHtWJi4g

Ben talks about how grip is a rabbit hole and the more you hyper focus on it the worse it gets. But you need to build a technique to begin with...
https://youtu.be/c4JzgUnPMsg

Another thing is that slow fire and practical shooting are two different beasts, my LGS owner (former ranger) talks about how they have to unteach people who grew up doing slow fire only to get them to learn practical shooting. But you should build a foundation before you try going faster.

Gunmagwarehouse will have cheap mags for ya, check there before you buy elsewhere. In general pulling down with your dominant hand pinky finger while you shoot helps you stay on target while you shoot fast. Also nobody really uses the lanyard loop from what I've seen.

As you can see, I have my finger off the trigger until I pull it, don't do that. I only realize that I'm doing this because I took video of it. I use a completely different technique when I'm doing slow fire where I slowly pull through the trigger

I was doing single shot return to zero drills so I was in my more aggressive shooting mindset.

Thanks anon. The extractor will definitely be the first thing I mess with if I have any issues.

Any time I get a new gun, I strip it down, clean it, and lube it up before I take it to the range for the first time. In part to inspect and familiarize myself with it, in part because I've found that from the factory almost every gun has little bits of bullshit in it and inadequate lube.

Anyway I'm really hoping this thing runs well, but to anyone wondering the differences between the $420 Tisas and $1800 Dan Wesson are so noticeable side by side that even if the Tisas proves to be perfectly reliable I do NOT regret spending more on the DW.

I like to see 1k rounds without lube or even a field strip without malfunctions, but only my FN 509c, PDP, Berretta APX, and TX22 have managed it. If I see reliability issues in the first 100-150 rounds out of the box the first thing I do is clean and obviously lube it, and that's fixed it with everything except my JXP 10 which I think needs to be sent back to Hi point if I ever give a shit about it enough to fix it.

Not surprised to hear the DW is better, the ones I've handled have been VERY nice and justify the price. Sometimes you gotta spend good money to get good shit ya know?

The gray socks are because I'm on a road trip and packed my socks away somewhere I couldn't get to as easily as I could spend $4 on some new socks. Believe it or not, I got new sock money.

Women I take to the range love it, and I like spending time with women who are willing to go to the range.

I did this with my first AR15. I even took a little swim in the pool with it then left it outside overnight to dry before I shot it the first time.

It passed the test but I eventually decided it's not a good break-in procedure. I don't want any leftover manufacturing debris or shitty lube causing galling or uneven wear issues on the moving surfaces during the initial break-in that have a potential to reduce reliability down the road.

Now I meticulously clean and lube for the first 500-1000, THEN start neglecting all maintenance until I get stoppages or it gets too gross for me to tolerate.
