Editors are one of the most important aspect as to what makes a manga good, Naruto in particular had a much shittier premise and was going to fall in the pitfall that a lot of modern shounen do where they just info dump the power system in the second chapter, but the editor reigned Kishimoto in.
The whole reason korean manga are generally worse than japanese manga is because webtoon's editors are basically non-existent. Before webtoon was a thing and they released manga on physical magazines there were some actually good ones thanks to having actual editors. This is also the reason why Weekly Shonen Jump became worse, in order to launch Jump+ they transferred their best editors there and left everything to the new generation that wasn't properly trained, so the new editors ended up being a bunch of hacks that just ruin everything.
TLDR; Editors are necessary, changing them to AI would kill the industry on an instant
