She really doesn't. Also the only one who cares about her past actions is her in some specific scenes despite how much she moans about ponies judging her. It's not about her being punished, is about her showing actual growth rather than being handed titles, medals, responsibilities and metaphorical blowjobs from Twilight.

I frankly believe the average Glimmer defender just doesn't have the mental hardware to keep two concepts present at the same time. They can see that the writers intended for her to be redeemed and leave it there, ignoring the issues with just saying it happened and failing to actually show it.

She feels bad (she says so, but can't really see what she did wrong or why it is wrong) doesn't acknowledge why (it's not important) and thus she learned her lesson (she does something just as bad or worse in her next episode). Why even bother making episodes about her? Just have the writer say she is redeemed, feels bad, give a half-ass apology and that is it. Same shit and saves on budget.

Starlight Glimmer is the pony equivalent of the breakfast question.
