I was told during college that, when becoming a teacher, "You can't be too much of anything". If you're half as likeable as you seem to think you are then students will talk about you at home. It just takes one parent complaint about that kind of thing to set your ass on the street.

Yeah, some people just have "it" when it comes to being a teacher. I will say "it" changes depending on grade level. The difference from 2nd grade and 4th grade for example are different worlds. Try your hand again with a different group.
