For some people it's easier to believe that the random, chaotic and unpredictable nature of moments like this and indeed of life in general is all part of some unimaginably complex yet perfectly coordinated worldwide conspiracy where shadowy figures of immense power are pulling all the strings behind the curtain. Nothing ever happens by chance, it's all pre-planned beforehand and the sequence of events plays out entirely as was always expected. Everything is firmly under control. Always.

And it's not because these people think they're smarter than everyone else or that they are the chosen few who can see through the Matrix or anything like that. It's just that seeing ife for what it is - random chaos - and the complete lack of routine or patterns or predictability that involves... well its just too terrifying to contemplate. So they go with the "everything's a conspiracy, everything's always under control" idea instead because it's just comfier. And being comfy is nice. Probably a lot nicer than being right.
