They aren't. They're one of the smallest armies in the game and half their kits are heinously overpriced Resin. Generally speaking, the only 'pros' of Custodes are
>They're easy to paint (Gold, red, wash, done)
>They're high Points-Per-Model (Low model count army, easier to assemble and manage)
>They can share models with Horus Heresy (However that requires Resin investment)
Meanwhile the cons are;
>Skew army if you don't dump money Resin (You have 3-4 units to spam and some characters, that's basically it)
>Even if you do go for resin they're absurdly boring to play as or against (Your basic infantry are as tougher than Terminators, if your opponent hasn't specifically tailored their army to deal with Custodes you're just going to table them. If they have, they're going to table you. Again, skew list)
>Resin, lmao (Expensive, poor to work with, often not in stock and when it is it's in low quantities, the detail it SOMETIMES provides is almost never worth the cost)
