Ryu literally spends his entire time away from the core plot, so yeah he is the B-plot. You want a movie that makes sense to anyone who's literate in story telling, this movie tells a coherent story that isn't stretched between different stories. That right there, is why Street Fighter is so hard to adapt into fiction and why the story modes in the modern games are so awful, all of the characters are pretty much unrelated plotwise
