When they made Teddy a main character, as in someone who shows up in every episode, no matter how little of a role he has to play. This was also around the time too many of the episode plots became
>A-plot is the kids doing something stupid at school or otherwise outside of the restaurant
>B-plot is Bob, Linda, Teddy and maybe another secondary character doing something stupid at the restaurant, takes up maybe 4-5 minutes of the episode total
No matter how hard I think, this is where the show's overall humor and atmosphere went downhill for me. I can't pinpoint the exact moment but I think it was around season 5 or 6
