The people I knew that studied STEM and went into coding are making 30-80% less than the people that completed a humanities degree and got a job working for the Ontario provincial and the Canadian government. Most of them are on the Sunshine List. The only exceptions to this are STEMfags that landed a Cali job at Facegoog or if they stayed in Canada, somewhere like Shopify. Developers at the big Canadian banks are under constant threat of outsourcing and their salary is around 80k CAD, so around 65k USD. This isn't terrible, but is it worth having to work 60+ hour weeks, practicing Leetcode questions, keeping up to date with tech?
If you took a few French classes and applied for a job at the federal government your career would be set. The drawback is you likely couldn't avoid getting vaxxed in 2021-2022.
I worked at a shit company that tried (but failed) to enforce the vaccine. I was the only guy at the company that didn't get it (the vaccine).
