Wtf was he thinking? Why does everyone say the Jap plan was so complex? If you factor in the real intentions it doesnt make sense. If they wanted to just bait carriers, why would the US attack Yamato and landing fleet with naval air when the japs have like 8 fleet carriers lurking? US wouldn't take the bait even if they had to over midway, a shitty airfield. Why did the Japanese actually want to take midway itself at this stage? They wasted their carrier airstrike on a land airfield to take a rock with no good port and a soon to be destroyed airfield if they successfully bomb and land. They would have to rebuild everything. It achieves them nothing unless they are gunning for hawaii. Why did they not just keep pushing southwest and take port Moresby when they cost the Americans so much to defend it? Why not just keep doing carrier operations in the coral sea and place a trap there? Also I just wanna say the Japanese always have these stupid plans that achieve nothing. After their carriers are destroyed, their battleships and cruisers just get dabbed on by destroyers and cruisers the rest of the war. Battleships are so useless. Yamato fucking sucked. Barely killed some destroyers later in the war.
