In 1944, China and the Soviet army went to war against each other in Xinjiang in the Ili rebellion which would last from 1944-1946.
Chinese army directly fought against Soviet army in the Tarim Basin and Ili. Over 120,000 troops and fighter aircraft were in Xinjiang.

Despite China fighting a two front war with technological inferiority weapons,
Japan still got smashed by China at the battles of Tengchong and Mount Song (battle of west Yunnan) in late 1944 with the total slaughter of all Japanese soldiers west of the Salween river.
This was during the Ili rebellion.
