It can be real dating. A little over a decade ago I got a gf off a gf begging thread on this board.
Crucially, we turned out to both be living in the same state thereby allowing for in person encounters (though we were still several hours apart since that state was Texas).
Was definitely more than just sending text messages or whatever you might think edating is like given the physical stuff we did when together in person.
