My understanding of that example, BTW, is that it used to just be Chicken Tikka, but then a British-Indian cook (in either Britain or north India, sources vary) experimented with adding tomatoes to a curry (or even tomato soup), and thus was born what ended up becoming Britain's de facto national dish.
(Regardless of who invented it or where, though, it's pretty fucking hilarious how Britain has an Indian curry as its de facto national dish.)
