Of course there is. You can't do it forever and you will feel inauthentic, unsatisfied, if that is what you are. Changing is fine. Masking is not. And if society says it is, then it's society that is wrong. You are such a slave to shame that you think freedom is bad. Just because you can't have it, doesn't mean it's bad.
