Because they didn't work to achieve their directive. Ban firearm ownership or at least make firearm ownership something to be ashamed of. Even Obama admitted that his greatest regret as President was the failure to ban guns. The American people knew what he was trying to do and bought more guns and ammo during his terms than any other time in history.
