>Not to mention pure black and white.
>Killian vs Gizmo
Yeah but you side with Gizmo to get easy cash to start the game with and I'll pretend that you don't get a lot of guns to sell by looting all his guards, the best pistol in the game for players who intentionally aren't going with small guns in their build but haven't got a good weapon yet, and the earliest weapon trader that the quest probably affects prices for or something.
Then you get to Fallout 2 and it beats you over the head with black and white morality in half of it. Some of it reminds me of Fallout 3's side quests like the vampires where it beats you over the head with "This indoctrinating cult of queer culture which says cannibalism is um okay actually is for those with Lawful Good alignment and siding against it is for those with the Stupid Evil alignment who thought Dick Richardson was right, so you're gonna pick cannibalism over kicking the puppy and wearing a swastika armband, right?". The only nuance I remember is Vault City where if you decide you hate slavers and refuse to work with them or get yourself kicked out... you can't cure jet.

>at not point the game even hints that Killian might be a bad leader
Is this the alternate/original ending?
>With Gizmo out of the way, Killian enforces his brand of frontier justice on Junktown. The city remains orderly but small, as travelers steer away from his rigid sensibilities.
Is that a bad ending? It sounds like a happy town by Fallout standards, ideal by some morals. The canon ending is basically the same but doesn't say if Junktown remained the same size or not.
Gizmo's original(?) ending is unwarranted - it basically says he's a supreme benevolent entity who used the power of gambling to maky everyone happy, rich and famous, and (peacefully?) got rid of any drug dealers and criminals on the streets.
