RMRs are very durable, the tradeoff is the lenses are more tinted and have more distortion. I don't like them for that reason but they are high quality (as are a lot of chinese dots)
The RMRcc has a different footprint and yeah it's about 1/10" skinnier for skinnier slides
MSRP is meaningless. Yeah there are fakes but you're not likely to encounter them outside ebay. Or MAYYYYBE an Amazon return. Find the exact model of RMR you want (probably adjustable, and probably 3.25 MOA dot as a middle ground) and put the SKU or MPU into gun.deals or poke around for used ones on gun forums. $500 is too much for a new RMR. Here's the 3.25 MOA adjustable for example
