>Just let the old people die
Non-answer. No one would accept this in the real world.
>create more efficient ways of caring for them
Answer that only works in a perfect world. Huge swaths of people in most democracies are opposed to raising taxes to pay for social services like taking care of old people. Americans won't even let the government give them socialized healthcare and you think the civilized world would just magically support subsidized living for old farts?
>Keeping our current population at or above replacement just isn't sustainable
Correct, but we aren't even near the population plateau yet. It's supposed to people around 10-11 billion somewhere in the 2080s. If you were born in 2000 then you will live to see the most wildly unsustainable period of human history.
