I remember years back there was the fad of lucky chairs or how they were called.
Basically chairs in front of or inside stores that had a rotation of randomly picked characters on them. If the character represented the first one of your name AND you then hopped on that chat you got free shit from that store. Sometimes worth several 100 sneedens.
It actually worked. It drew quite a few people there (including perma-broke me) and was great fun especially if you got something from the store you actually wanted but didn't have the monies for or didn't want to shell out that kinda money for it.
If I ever get myself a store I _WILL_ make a luckychair for it.
