It's a boon but it's not worth overthinking either. I used to doodle a lot s a kid but it's not like I learned anything from it. The only thing the autistic doodling stage did was suggest that I was mentally inclined to enjoy drawing. I was a bit of a "late bloomer" when I decided to buckle down and aggressively study art in my 20s, but age really has nothing to do with it. Drawing's not even particularly hard, it just takes time to perfect your craft, and you need to be the sort of person who enjoys the process.

Yeah. You just kind of need to keep doing it. It'll take a while, which is why it's important to actually enjoy drawing. Life's fast. A few years will fly by before you know it.

I wouldn't say I'm particularly good, but at least I can say I know how to draw and I'm slowly getting better year-by-year.
