The Zavala thing is annoying and makes no sense and was an insult for people who already played Haunted. Which is why it sucks with what they do with seasonal stories.
Drifter and Eris are absolutely the worst offenders. I think Drifter might be the worst, because he's actually a character that has relatively a lot of decent, mysterious stuff. Alluding to stuff outside of the system, all of the stuff that he had to say genuinely enriched the universe of Destiny because we couldn't actively see what he was talking about, but his descriptions were good enough and just cryptic enough.
And then we go outside the solar system and Drfiter is just on comms and he's not really important till the derelict comes into play. There's nothing about him bringing back memories at all, there's nothing about him being completely creeped out, bringing back bad memories, no sense of trauma, no flooding of his schizo-tier descriptions of the world beyond the system.
He just gets older and then he's lamenting he's apart of the Nine's game. Which he's always been. And he's been pretty happy in the past about being part of the game. Dude gets up to weird shit.
