I don't think suffering brings inherent divine reward but I do think we can have something in our next lives that's better than this life.
I don't think being made trans is a divine punishment though. Even though this brings suffering without any inherent beauty, on some level you really do have to internally grapple and wrestle with yourself in ways that many people simply don't.
I hope if I turn out not transgender in my next go around that I'm still empathetic to people like us
