I agree with the other guy, late-stage Tomino is a hack so this is kind of a cope if the franchise needs him to save it.
As a show, this is series is passable to forgettable. As a toy/figurine advertising gimmick, i think it will succeed (maybe even better than Gwitch). That is all Bandai needs, not for Tomino to have his Miyazaki moment.
