It's less about that and more the magic built a system that was all encompassing enough to be applied to anything, so anything could become a magic card without it feeling out of place. Wizards has been playing with the idea of a sixth color for years, but they've never added it because the 5 colors, or some combination of them, already cover anything it could be.
Magic's system is so universal you can take any character, and ask 100 magic players what color(s) they would be, and the vast majority would come up with the same answer.
