War in the pocket if you want UC, Turn A Gundam if you don't mind a slow burn or homosexuality, zeta is pretty good but probably not as good if you haven't seen the original series. Outside of Gundam, Brain Powerd is another Tomino mecha show that's pretty ok. Space Runaway Ideon is a brutal one by the end. heavy metal l gaim is more nagano than Tomino and it's clearly got a lot of Five Star Stories DNA in it. FSS is also worth checking out, the ova is cool and the manga has some great art and cool fashion. Aura Battler Dunbine is a nice isekai mix of mecha and fantasy, not the most satisfying character arcs though. Escaflowne and Rayearth are both also good mecha fantasy. Votoms is like a more macho mecha iirc. Patlabor is a comfy buddy cop show with mecha, and while not mecha, Appleseed has a similar vibe to some of patlabor. Bubblegum Crisis AD Police is sort of like Totally Spies but mecha. Legend of the Blue Wolves is a mecha story with some romance and a bittersweet ending. TTGL is like Evangelion but written by Camus. Gargantia I don't remember much of but I think it was ok. Blue Gender is cool and not about tranny stuff but rather giant bugs, sort of like Gyo. There's also a number of OVAs out there whose names I've forgotten, plus other big names like Code Geass or Macross or Full Metal Panic which I either haven't seen or didn't really care for.
